Tanjung Malim, 11 April – The Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), through its Campus Sultan Azlan Shah, The Japanese club successfully held the Bengkel Nihongo: Zero to Basic! Siri 1, on 11 April 2026 via Google Meet, conducted by the Executive Committee Member for Academic and Career of KBJ. This program featured an engaging session led by Nurin Dayana Binti Alias, a highly accomplished speaker with notable achievements in Japanese language competitions. With her experience as a finalist in the Nihongo Speech Contest Aeon 1% Club and a national-level storytelling runner-up, she demonstrated strong credibility and passion in teaching Japanese.

Throughout the workshop, Nurin delivered clear and structured guidance, beginning with the fundamentals of Hiragana and Katakana, followed by basic pronunciation and simple conversational phrases. Her teaching approach emphasized practical learning, where students were introduced to essential expressions such as greetings, self-introduction, and daily communication phrases.
What made the session particularly impactful was her ability to simplify complex elements of the Japanese writing system into manageable steps. She shared effective memorisation techniques, such as learning one row of characters per day, consistent repetition, and practicing writing multiple times to reinforce memory. Additionally, she encouraged students to adopt consistent learning habits, including using language apps, engaging with Japanese content, and building confidence in speaking. The session was not only informative but also interactive, as students were actively involved through practice segments and a question-and-answer session. This created a supportive learning environment where participants felt comfortable to engage and clarify doubts.

Overall, Nurin’s delivery was both informative and motivating, successfully bridging the gap between zero knowledge and basic understanding of the Japanese language.
