TANJONG MALIM - In a significant stride toward bridging academia and industry, the Sultan Idris Education University has formed a Memorandum of Understanding with five prominent media and lifestyle brands on signalling a new chapter for student internships, creative production, and industry-ready education. The signing ceremony, held at 11 in the morning at the E-learning building at Kampus Sultan Abdul Jalil Shah, marked the beginning of a structured collaboration aimed at offering UPSI students’ direct access to real-world industry experience through internships and creative projects in digital production and marketing communication under the university's 2u2i programme and initiative.

Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) took a decisive step forward in its mission to produce industry-ready graduates on 21 May 2026 when it officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with five well-known companies and productions such as Oh My Media, SKOP Production, Aaron Aziz Production, Noir Health and Beauty, and AQ Energy.

The floor was extended to the industry representatives as the opening of the programme, with each of whom delivered a personal address reflecting on the significance of the MoU and the value of university-industry collaboration. Their words were motivating, encouraging, and deeply realistic to the awaiting graduates in the working world.

"I don't think a three or four-month internship is sufficient to learn anything substantial — but rather, a year long is when you can truly grasp the depth of the job and the experience." Encik Irwan bin Hatim stated.

His view reinforced the very rationale behind the 2u2i framework, which is designed to give students prolonged, substantive engagement with their industry partners rather than a short and brief introduction. The sentiment was echoed by other representatives who likewise expressed genuine pride in being approached by UPSI and urged students to approach the opportunity with both seriousness and ambition.

"I believe there is always someone better than us out there who just hasn't had the opportunity or medium like I do so we must seize the opportunity the moment it is presented to us and do our very best." Yang Bhg. Datuk Md. Yusof bin Mohd Haslam stated.

Datuk Yusof Haslam's address carried the weight of lived experience in Malaysia's entertainment industry  a reminder that talent, unaccompanied by opportunity, often goes unrealised. His words served as both a challenge and a reassurance to the students present: that this MoU is precisely the kind of door that changes trajectories.

The programme was then graced by the address of UPSI's Vice Chancellor, YBhg. Prof. Dato' Dr. Md. Amin Md. Taff, who delivered a motivational speech that was spoken with pride of the university's academic standing and the capability of its student body, expressing full confidence in their readiness to rise to the challenges of the industry. His address served not only as an endorsement of the university's strategic direction but as a rallying call for students to approach their forthcoming industry immersion with the dedication it deserves.

The ceremony reached its defining moment when all five industry heads, alongside Prof. Dato' Dr. Md. Amin, simultaneously put their signatures to the Memorandum of Understanding and officiated the shared aspiration.

As the hall cleared and the formalities drew to a close, what remained was something far more enduring than a signed document. The MoU signing of 21 May 2026 represents a clear institutional conviction that the most valuable education is one that meets the industry halfway. For UPSI students stepping into placements at Oh My Media, SKOP Production, Aaron Aziz Production, Noir Health and Beauty, and AQ Energy, the real journey is only just beginning.
